Gratefulness
|
So much of modern life is a feverish anticipation of future activity and excitement. We have to learn to step back from this into the freedom and possibility of the present. |

HEAVEN #2877 Be a Good Sport, October 10, 2008
God said:
Let today be a triumph for you, triumph in the sense that you walk through it with your head held high and joy in your heart. If you have an enemy, it is your own thinking, and today you go beyond the limits of your thinking. You step over a beautiful horizon, and so you enter Newness, and you are amazed. You are amazed at how easy life is.
Now you throw away the idea that life was ever hard. It was only an idea. It was an idea that cost you much. Life is not hard. Life is easy. It always comes to you, and you walk through it. In your walk through life, do not predict brambles and muddy puddles. Predict paths showered in rose petals. Predict your being carried by angels of God. Predict your walking on air.
Obstacles are of your own making. Obstacles are not what stand before you. Obstacles are your interpretation. You have had the idea that you are to walk straight ahead. You have stood by that idea. So when there is a pinnacle before you, you want to beat it down. You object to its being there when, all the while, it is a pinnacle you are to climb, or it is an arrow that points you in another direction. Really, beloveds, what is so terrible about that? What is so terrible if there is a nice policeman who tells you to take another road? Tell Me, beloveds, what is so awful about that?
What is so terrible when you receive a letter you don’t want? What is so marvelous about receiving a letter that you had planned in your head? Certainly, you like that. You like it when you order apple pie and the servants of the world bring you apple pie. You don’t like it when the same servants of the world bring you a vegetable soup, or even a potent energy drink, or a medicine that you didn’t want. The whole thing is that you didn’t want.
Well, now, chums, become a good sport. The sun still shines. There is a rainbow after the rain. What is it that you are holding on to that you can’t tolerate a departure from? What is so vital about catching this train and not another? What is this urgency you have that makes you insist that life follow your plan?
What if there is no set cut and dried resolution to your life? What if your life is made up as you go along? So what if your life is edited! So what if life isn’t exactly as you had decided it should be? What has necessitated your stopping in your tracks, and having an interior tantrum?
Perhaps life is serving you a better menu. What if in the soup you didn’t order therein lies a diamond? Better you don’t throw that soup away. You don’t want to miss out on that diamond. Perhaps that diamond looks like a piece of coal to you. Perhaps you looked too fast. Perhaps you didn’t see what lies beneath the piece of coal. Perhaps you are too hasty.
Beloveds, and if you find that the piece of coal winds up being a piece of coal, are you not still you? What do you think you have lost out on? What it amounts to is that you have more to look forward to. Looking forward is a good thing to do.
Look forward to life’s rendering itself to you as it wills. Remember, life has gifts for you. Look within. Accept. Enjoy what is in your hand, and then go on to open the next gift. There will always be gifts for you and more and more and faster and faster. See gifts, beloveds, and no longer obstacles.
A gift has been given to you.
