Uriel’s Message — Where You Are Supposed To Be by Jennifer Hoffman
Each moment of your journey is planned to give you every opportunity to transcend the darkness that you believed was your path and find the light. Each experience is a lesson in healing, finding your power and reconnecting to Source. You are always where you are supposed to be, doing the work that you have come here to do and experiencing all aspects of darkness and light until you arrive at your spiritual center. This is your journey, the fulfillment of your contract and the acknowledgement of your agreement with your divine self.
The times in your life where you struggle, suffer, experience chaos and drama you call accidents, mistakes, errors in judgment and misfortune. But your only error occurred when you believed yourself to be out of touch with your Source and disconnected from your divinity. Each time you move away from this connection you experience the chaos of fear. When you move back into the flow of divine love you know the calm and serenity of knowing your Truth. With each of these movements you are exactly where you are supposed to be, moving between the energies of human and divine, fear and love, material and spiritual.
You have chosen this path to learn about every aspect of fear so that it can be transmuted. This journey from the spiritual to material and back again is the path that leads to your mastery. To find your power you must learn what it is to be without it, just as you choose to learn about love by removing yourself from its source. It is the contract that each of you has with Creator, to awaken each aspect of humanity to the light and you have done this for lifetimes.
Your life path is an agreement between you and Creator, a journey from light to darkness and back to the light. With each step you are where you are supposed to be as you open your heart and allow the alignment of the light within you. Do not ask why you are at a particular place in your life. Instead, know that you are where you are supposed to be and consider that your decision for the next step on your journey is what is necessary for your soul’s growth and ascension.

No Cure for Hot and Cold, A Vignette on Change, by Peggy Dylan from Sundoor
This weekend my mom and I are flying up to see my son Aaron for his birthday. Aaron broke his back in a fall last August, which currently confines him to a wheelchair; my mother has Alzheimer’s. She used to be a force of nature unto herself. She has two degrees from Stanford University, as a young mother raised her family in Europe, learned computer programming when almost sixty, rode horseback through the Himalayas in her sixties and got a job, not long after that, as a biologist riding by herself into the Sierra Nevada mountains, here in California, to analyze the damage from grazing on high mountain meadows. She now lives with us, as she is no longer capable of caring for herself. Last night while I was talking to Aaron about our upcoming visit he laughed, “It’ll be fun telling grandma why I am in a wheelchair…over and over again!”
My husband, Steve, makes mom breakfast every morning so I can do my morning prayers and go for a run in nature. He will have already been to the gym before she gets up; it works well. I came home this morning to them eating together. As I sit down with a cup of tea, mom takes her dentures out at the table and starts picking something out of them. I look over at Steve who is trying to eat his breakfast. He grins and shrugs. It’s just life, his body says, just life. I love that man.
A stream running over rocks ripples. Though constantly changing, there are patterns to the flow. We get familiar and actually enjoy the consistency of the small and predictable changes in our lives, morning and evening, summer and winter, even our personal rhythms each day. But what happens when the storms in our lives throw us into big water, white water, and suddenly the change threatens to drown us, threatens to rattle us to the core, wash out all complacency? How do we deal with this bone-chilling, soul-wrenching, kind of change? How do we deal with our daily fears of this type of change, of global warming, financial meltdown, personal tragedy?
Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche tells us to live our lives like an experiment. My experiment with life, my exploration, my study, these last few years has been to learn about change. These years have left me in unfamiliar waters. They were years the like of which I have never experienced, years that ended with the biggest rock in my streambed: Aaron’s accident. My question has been: when all washes away, when the familiar has been destroyed through the storms of one’s life, what does one stand on? What remains of faith and practice? How does one – do I – find the rhythm, the ripple, of the stream again?
The world is changing around us – weather patterns, financial institutions and social customs. Intellectually we understand that life is in flux at all times, that seasons change, flowers die, new growth starts, that we lose a pound or two or put them back on, that children grow up and we age. But despite our intellectual comprehension of impermanence we have a deep-seated aversion to that reality. We struggle emotionally against the truth of impermanence. It scares the living daylight out of us! This human animal hates real change. Most of our daily activities, outer and inner, are expended in trying to create permanence, or at least the illusion of it. Make and keep this reality solid, pleeeeze! Keep me young and vital! Keep this person in love with me forever! Hang onto the money in the bank, or perhaps, given current circumstances, the money under the mattress. We worry about changing patterns; we want to control inner and outer circumstances at all costs. We expend tremendous energy, truly most of our daily energy, to ward off the experience of impermanence, the experience of change.
These last two years, ending in Aaron’s accident, have often had me lost in the irrefutable reality of the immensity of the changes. How does one deal with change of this magnitude? I, like the masters in whose footsteps I humbly attempt to follow, turned to the only light that shines into those dark places. The greater the challenge of change in our lives, they say, the greater the opportunity for growth, the opportunity to lean into and experience that inner place of fear or uncertainty, of anguish or anger, that we’d usually run away from.
Trungpa Rinpoche addresses our human condition by reminding us playfully that there is not cure for hot and cold. There is no cure for what moves through our minds, the good, the bad and the ugly. As human beings we will cycle through pain and pleasure, success, self-doubt, fear and joy, on a constant fluctuating stream. It comes as some relief to know that this is the human condition, the nature of the human mind. We are not doing anything wrong. There is no cure for what arises within the mind. Our human nature looks for the cause of the thoughts and feelings which plague us. In general, this is not the most effective way to go about it. I often think of it as a fog rising from the ground. We were happily walking through sunshine just a few minutes ago and then this fog surrounds us. Rinpoche says there is no cure for hot and cold, no cure for the constant arising of conditions. In other words, no matter how safe you try to make your life, fog will arise. You are going to go through stuff. In these last two years I’ve learned that there may not be a cure, but there certainly is relief from the symptoms associated with the grasping after permanence. There is a rock we can stand on in the swirling waters of human existence.
There is a way to find a ground of being which allows us to stand on terra firma, despite the fog, despite the constant changes. It’s simple. We all know it. It is loving kindness, open-heartedness: bodhichitta. Bodhi means open or enlightened or awake and chitta means heart or mind. Pema Chödrön, the well known Buddhist teacher, says we can, in part, equate bodhichitta with compassion – our ability to feel the pain we share with others. She tells us that, without realizing it, we continuously try to shields ourselves from this pain. We put up protective walls, barriers made of fear of being hurt ourselves. But our innate ability to care is a crack in those walls. If we practice we can learn to grab that feeling of love or gratitude or tenderness – to awaken bodhichitta. “Even ordinary people like us with hang-ups and confusions have this mind of enlightenment called bodhichitta. The openness and warmth of bodhichitta is in fact our true nature and condition. Even when our neurosis feels far more basic than our wisdom, even when we’re feeling more confused and hopeless, bodhichitta – like the open sky – is always here, undiminished by the clouds that temporarily cover it.”
Albert Einstein, in one of my favorite statements of his, tells us that we humans are part of the great whole, the universe, and that it is only illusion which makes us see ourselves as separate. “Our task”, he reminds us, “must be to free ourselves form this prison by widening the circle of understanding and compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
I have done some research on cultural and religious beliefs about the afterlife. I looked at what, if anything, transcends the many differences. There is one common thought in the widely differing beliefs, which can be reduced to a simple idea: after death, good things happen to good people.
Nyingma master Dodrupchen Rinpoche tells us to start training toward bodhichitta by deciding not to harm others. Then to develop further by giving what we can and end with a commitment to do whatever we can do to liberate all beings from suffering, not leaving a single one behind. “You should train your mind with these thoughts. You have to train yourself in this manner because your mind will develop in whatever way you direct it. Since all occurrences and all phenomena are dependent on mind, your personal experience will be a reflection of how you have trained your own mind.” He continues, “There is no more concise and essential teaching than what is contained here in this short practice of compassion.”
The Navajo teach their children that in the mornings the sun comes up as a brand new sun. It’s born every morning and lives only for that day, passing on in the evening, never to return. They tell their little ones, “The sun has only this day, one day. You must live your life in a good way, so the sun will not have wasted precious time.”
We make a practice of choosing to cultivate loving kindness instead of fear. We practice opening our hearts and minds in difficult situations, and slowly we build a foundation to return to, no matter how big the waves of life are. “Come on”, I say to mom, “let’s brush those teeth over here at the sink.” I am thinking about our visit to Aaron. He who used to live in big brush strokes and wild colors has had so quickly to learn how to focus on minutiae. From sterile procedures and restricted food and drink choices, which won’t upset the delicate balance of his physiology, to awareness of pressure where he does not have feeling: a change from wild abandon to cleanliness and control. Mom starts scrubbing her teeth in the sink with childlike concentration. “Mom you probably shouldn’t take your teeth out during meals when we are visiting Aaron”, I say, knowing it is hopeless, knowing nothing will be remembered. I look up and catch Steve’s eye. He is still sitting at the kitchen table. He smiles at me, obviously aware of my inner process. “You are so beautiful”, he says quietly, his heart in his eyes. I shrug, returning his grin…just life…just life.
There is no cure for hot and cold, only the choice of ground of being in the present moment, bodhichitta.

Pearls Before Breakfast – an article by Gene Weingarten for the Washington Post
A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that thousands of people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. Three minutes went by and a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried up to meet his schedule.
A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping continued to walk.
A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the man looked at his watch and started to walk again. Clearly he was late for work.
The one who paid the most attention was a 3 year old boy. His mother tagged him along, hurried, but the kid stopped to look at the violinist. Finally the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. All the parents, without exception, forced them to move on.
In the 45 minutes the musician played, only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money but continued to walk at their normal pace. He collected $32. When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition. No one knew this but he violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million.
Two days before his playing in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston and the seats averaged $100.
This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and priorities of people.
One of the possible conclusions from this experience could be: If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing the best music ever written, how many other things are we missing?

2009 predictions by Jennifer Hoffman and Archangel Uriel
2008 was a year of completion, endings and closure. It was a time for us to review everything in our life that was not working for us, meaning that was not bringing us joy, peace and abundance, and choosing transformation instead of resentment, fear, despair and hopelessness. If this was a difficult year it was because many of these issues came up at the same time. This was not a punishment from the Universe, but a clarion call for us to prepare, clear, heal and release to move into new dimensions of being. We have said that this is what we wanted, we have asked for release from our karma and the blocks to our abundance, and that is what we received.
With 2009, we have arrived. This is a year of 11 vibration, which has not occurred since 1901 and 1910. Everyone is at a point in their evolution where they have to choose the path they wish to take. For some this will be an easy choice, one that they are prepared for and know what they wish to do. For others, more healing work is necessary and they will be experiencing the results of their life choices in ways that may seem more challenging or difficult than ever before. They will be going through what many of us have gone through for the past ten or more years, but in a condensed way because the old vibrations are being moved out to make way for the higher vibrations.
Anyone who is holding dense, third dimensional energy is going to feel pressure to release this energy and adopt a higher vibration. The new vibrations do not replace the old without our consent, moving into higher vibrations is a choice that everyone must make. The universe will provide many opportunities for those who have not yet made this choice to do so.
Energetic Portals
The mass infusion of energies we experienced in 2007 and 2008 will be replaced with more focused, concentrated energies. We will experience four new portals in 2009:
February is the portal of aligning with truth. This portal was created in December and it will continue to expand through February 2009. Anything that does not resonate with the truth will be revealed on all levels. This is a portal of integrity, of being aligned with spiritual truth. Anyone who has not done their healing and clearing work will have opportunities to do so. You may feel this shift as a strong sense of betrayal or loss, but that is because those aspects of your material truth are being released.
June is the portal of power, where you will understand the difference between material and spiritual power. The world experience lessons in power, how power is used and what it is used to create. You may feel more powerful in this time as you recognize your gifts and have opportunities to use them. Others will experience this as a loss of power as they learn to align with their true source of inner power and any external power sources will be removed. They will have an opportunity to experience this portal through fear or through love.
October is the portal of serenity, where you will experience a peace such as you have not known before. This peace is available to everyone who can connect to it. With each of these portals you will notice greater distinctions between the vibrations and light that people carry. The world may appear to be in chaos but you will be in peace. Stay within your center, your connection to Source and your light.
December is the portal of preparation for the vibrations of 2010 and for a new clearing cycle. This may include earth changes which do not need to manifest in destructive ways. Parts of the earth have agreed to receive those who need additional healing work, there will be a noticeable separation between those who have completed their work and those who have additional work to do.
Earth Changes
The earth mirrors the vibrations of its human family. Many areas of the earth will begin to change, new plants and animals will be discovered in areas where they have not appeared before. Any area that needs clearing will be cleared at this time, including more fires and floods. This is a purging process that is clearing old energies. These changes will also include the energies of people who live there. Those whose energies are not in alignment with those of an area will move of their own accord. They will be directed to areas where they will have access to energies that allow them to complete their healing work. Any Lightworker who has been in a place where they have been holding energy will be directed to a new area that is more aligned with their vibration.
New Partnerships
The new energies of 2009 also create new partnerships opportunities for we will be aligning with partners whose energies match ours. We can choose to enter partnerships for healing but we do not have to. There is a new partnership paradigm being created, one that is a blending of energies to create a true sharing and soul level commitment to unconditional love and joy. The old paradigm of karmic driven relationships is still available but we do not have to choose it. Lightworkers will find partners who mirror their vibration and can choose to allow others to heal their soul mates from previous lifetimes. The kindred spirit is the new paradigm for relationships and with kindred spirits there is no karma, no healing required.
A Year of Miracles
2009 is the year of the miracle vibration, an opportunity to be aligned with Divine Truth, to be aligned with your new soul purpose, which is beyond healing and growth. Each of us has an opportunity to be in a new vibration, to live in joy, peace and unconditional love. Everyone has this opportunity and it will be presented in different ways to them. This is a year of instant manifestation with the conscious use of our power. It is the end of a lifetime cycle for many lightworkers and the beginning of a new one that is centered in power, not healing, in forward movement, not holding energy for others, and in peace.
Peace on earth
There can be peace on earth and this year will provide many examples for the family of humanity to choose peace. It may seem that there are more wars and chaos but they are opportunities for humanity to come together and to choose peace. Those who promote war will find no support for their efforts as soldiers lay down their arms in peaceful protest against fear, domination, aggression and fighting.
The End of Time
This year it will seem that time moves faster than ever because the third dimension, where linear time exists, is losing density and blending with higher vibrations, where linear time does not exist. We will understand that time is a continuum, each moment is a blend of the past, present and future and that the past exists as an energy that we can choose whether or not to connect to. Being in the flow of Universal energy is the new definition of time. When you are out of the flow it will feel like time drags; when you are in the flow you will have the feeling of being outside of time, because you are.
The Year of the Light Beacon
Much will be happening in 2009 and each month will bring new opportunities for healing to the world. There will be more interest in spiritual matters as people seek answers and solutions to their confusion and distress as their ties to the material world are dissolved. It will be the year of the Lightworker, except that will change because we are now Light beacons—our work of healing others, of carrying the light for them and the planet, is finished. Now we merely have to shine our light from a position of joy, abundance and love, and allow others to find it.
Happy 2009, many blessings to each of you for an abundant, joyful, miraculous year.
Many blessings,

Uriel’s Message — Believe From Your Heart by Jen H.
In times of trouble you want to believe that you are loved and supported, cared for and nurtured on all levels. You want to quiet the chatter of your mind when it reminds you of the disappointments of the past and the uncertainty of the future. But quieting the mind requires constant vigilance because the mind operates from the past. In order to truly believe that you are loved, that you are a miracle master, that your spiritual journey will take you to the destination of your dreams you must believe from your heart because it is the heart space that knows faith and trust. The mind will follow the heart’s lead when you believe from your heart.
It is the mind’s job to navigate the material world and you have spent your lifetime training it to do so. Everything you know about the material world comes from the information stored in the mind and that includes your emotions. The heart and even more, your spiritual heart, is focused on your divinity, the perfection of your being and carries the energy of home for you. When you ask your mind to believe it must go back to the past and find a matching experience. If it cannot it will remind you of every reason why you should not believe. But the heart works differently.
The heart space is focused on your limitless potential, is connected to your field of possibilities and only knows of your perfection. As your Source connection, it is unconcerned about the past because it does not know the past. It is unconcerned about your beliefs and perceptions because those come from the mind. It already believes in every solution to every situation and the answer to every question. The heart space invites partnership with the mind-can you make that connection? It is up to you to create balance between heart and mind, between the spiritual and material, to allow unconditional love to overtake fear and the light to transcend the darkness.
When you believe from the heart there are no barriers or obstacles to your manifestation abilities. Everything you want to know, do and be is already completed in your heart. It waits for you to connect to it, to bring its potential to the material plane with the participation of the mind. When you believe from your heart, your mind and heart become partners and the mind becomes the grounding energy of your dreams. This week, allow your heart and mind to work together to manifest your dreams. Believe with your heart so your mind can provide support for the energy and its manifestation in your life. Believe from the heart so you can accept your divinity and spiritual heritage and manifest the life of your dreams.

Uriel’s Message: What is your Soul Purpose? By Jen H.
The purpose of your soul journey is healing, growth and transformation. At different times in your life your soul purpose reflects the step on your path that you are on and the energies that must be resolved to achieve resolution. Moving from one step to the next without doing your healing work is not possible and you stay within that aspect of your soul purpose until it is completed. So at each step of your journey your life path reflects your soul purpose and your only task is to be within the purpose as it is revealed to you. When you have completed this work, the next step will be opened to you as a doorway into the next phase of your soul purpose.
When you enter the earth plane your soul purpose is one of healing so all of your experiences are focused on bringing you the knowledge necessary to complete this phase. All of the learning you require, the lessons you must experience and the souls that are part of your soul contract and karmic journey are present for you. The healing takes as much time as is required to fulfill your agreement to heal yourself, your soul group and to bring this vibration to the earth. When you have completed healing, your purpose moves into the growth phase.
During the growth phase you have opportunities to put your healing into practice. Each experience you have allows you to confirm your healing or create additional healing lessons. When you are assured of your growth and understanding, you soul purpose moves into transformation and this is where you achieve spiritual mastery and move into the energy of miracles. Transformation is accompanied by opportunities to create new soul contracts, connect with new soul families and move into new dimensions of being.
You may not complete all aspects of your soul purpose in one lifetime. These aspects represent lifetimes of healing and the completion of each step is an important reintegration of disembodied emotions and energies for you. You are not judged as to whether you are able to achieve your purpose and you provide yourself with many opportunities to do so. Each victory represents a success for you, your soul group and a new opportunity for the transformation of the collective energies. You know when you have completed an aspect of your soul purpose when you achieve the peace, joy and understanding that allows you to practice compassion and unconditional love for yourself and others.
